The Village Hall @ Russells Water

It’s back again, and in style, this year we’ve gone that extra mile, a live band to help dance the night away, perfect for a summer Saturday in July.

Date: Saturday 20^th July 2013, from 6.30pm

Venue: Russells Water Village Green

Food: A BBQ (or vegetarian quiche) with salads and desserts will be served from 7 pm.  Tables and chairs will be set up in party tents, but you can bring a blanket for the ground, if you prefer.

Drink: There will be a pay bar serving beer (Rebellion), wine and soft drinks

Entertainment:

From 6.30 p.m. A bouncy castle for the children.
From 8.30 p.m. Dancing to late

Calling all baking fans, are you up to the challenge of baking in this great competition?

Five separate categories. £5.00 to enter as many as you like.

Large cake
Small cake (12 muffins/cup cakes etc)
Biscuits
Tray bake
Bread/rolls

There is also an under-18 category, for all budding bakers. Any category of bake can be entered.

Process: bring all your entries, on cake boards, to the Village Hall on 20th April between 10 am and 12 noon.

The Bake-off event will start at 2 pm.

Following some interesting talks by the judges, the prize winners will be announced at 2.30 pm, and then the raffle will be drawn.

Afternoon tea will be served from 3.15 pm, until 4.30 pm.

Prizes: Professional Patisserie masterclass with the pastry chefs from the Quince Tree, Stonor

Signed copies of Mary Berry’s Baking bible for each of the class winners

All funds will be donated to the Village Hall

The Christmas party is almost here, have you got your tickets yet? What’s happening on Sunday 9th December?

11 am the festivities begin with a children’s party –Bertie Slippers is entertaining! 

12.15 pm a get-together for all ages – with festive drinks and nibbles, carol singing, and a raffle

The Music quiz held on 10th November was a huge success.

A great turn out of over 60 people had great fun and contributed to the hall raising over £510 in the evening. The quiz questions were set by Geoff again and tested the best music memories across Russells Water, Maidensgrove and surrounding villages.

A great night was had by all and thanks to Sue King for organising it, Pete and Ian for arranging the bar (stocked full of Rebellion beer) and everyone else who helped set up and clear up on the night – well worth the effort.
